Welcome to your official Film Masters FL Installation Guide. Whether you’re a first-time DIYer or a professional installer using our pre-cut tint kits, this guide helps ensure your install looks clean, professional, and long-lasting.
We’ve combined expert tips, pro techniques, and everything you need to know to install our film confidently—all branded with the Film Masters FL standard of quality.
1. Understanding Tint Percentages (VLT)
Visible Light Transmission (VLT) is the percentage of light allowed through both the window and the film. The lower the number, the darker the tint:
- 5% — Limo Tint: Maximum privacy, limited night visibility.
- 20% — Dark Tint: Popular for rear windows.
- 35% — Medium Tint: Balanced look and heat rejection.
- 50% — Light Tint: Subtle, glare-reducing.
Film Masters FL kits are cut precisely to your year, make, and model, making application fast and accurate.
2. What Makes Pre-Cut Tint Different?
Traditional tinting involves bulky film rolls, hand-cutting, and guesswork. With Film Masters FL pre-cut kits, every window section is digitally designed and machine-cut to your exact vehicle specifications.
- No measuring or trimming required
- Reduces waste and air bubbles
- Faster installation with consistent edges
This makes DIY installs quicker and more professional—without the shop prices.
3. Installation Steps
You’ll Need:
- Spray bottle with water + a few drops of baby shampoo
- Hard card or squeegee
- Microfiber towel
- Clean work surface
Step-by-Step:
- Clean windows thoroughly – Remove dirt, debris, and oil.
- Spray glass generously with application solution.
- Peel film liner carefully – avoid creasing.
- Apply tint to inside of glass – align edges with care.
- Use squeegee from center outward to push fluid and air bubbles out.
- Trim if needed – though most installs require no trimming.
- Dry and cure – allow 24–48 hours before rolling windows down.
Pro Tip: Install indoors or in the shade to avoid premature drying.
4. Aftercare & Maintenance
- Do not roll down windows for at least 48 hours
- Do not clean film until fully cured (typically 5–7 days)
- Use only ammonia-free cleaners
- Avoid abrasive cloths or scrubbing
5. Troubleshooting
| Issue | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Bubbles | Air trapped during install | Re-wet and re-squeegee gently |
| Peeling corners | Film not aligned or window too dirty | Clean surface thoroughly and reapply edge |
| Hazy appearance | Normal curing process | Will clear in 3–5 days |
